Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA) in Zaire province, Emanuel Bongue, strongly condemned the acts of vandalism and looting that have occurred in recent days in some regions of the country and called for dialogue to resolve any disputes.
“Indeed, what we saw on television and social media was unpleasant, as we expected a peaceful and orderly demonstration. Unfortunately, the demonstration turned into a riot and looting of public and private property,” the reverend lamented in statements this Friday in Mbanza Kongo. He considered it a reprehensible and condemnable attitude practiced by individuals he called unpatriotic, at a time when the country has enjoyed 23 years of effective peace and 50 years of National Independence.
He added that anything related to rebellion has dire consequences, reiterating that disputes must be resolved through dialogue for the good of all.
To this end, he urged young people to change their behavior, prioritizing human life and respect for state institutions and their leaders.
“Young people must refrain from inappropriate behavior and invest more in academic and professional training for the advancement of our country,” he concluded.
