The wake of former National Basketball Team player, Ângelo Victoriano, who died on Saturday due to illness, has been taking place since Monday at the Cidadela pavilion, in Luanda, on the same stage where he performed several memorable performances, which dignify Angolan sport, African and global.
In that venue, where he won three of the eight titles with the National Team, several of his trophies and medals are on display, some of which were for the 1.o de Agosto club.
From the family, the old pole will be buried on Wednesday, in the Santa Ana cemetery.
Instead of the usual sports matches, the pavilion is, during this period, a place of deep consternation, where family members, former teammates from the national team, from the clubs he represented in the country, namely Petro de Luanda, ASA and 1.o de Agosto, gather. , in addition to the general population.
Aged 56 years old, Ângelo is the older brother of former basketball players Justino Victoriano “Puna” and Edmar Victoriano “Baduna”, equally major contributors to the development of the sport in the country through clubs and National Teams.
For his achievements, Ângelo Victoriano became the second Angolan in the “Hall Of Fame”, since August 2023, in recognition made by FIBA-Mundo, after Jean-Jacques da Conceição, in 2013.
In addition to his achievements with the National Team, Ângelo was African club champion with 1.o de Agosto, in 2002 (Luanda), 2004 (Cairo), 2005 (Lagos) and 2006 (Abidjan).
He was present at four Olympic Games, in Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000) and Athens (2004).
