Africa-Press – Angola. At least 68 citizens in Bengo benefited from free legal assistance provided by the Angolan Bar Association (OAA) in 2025, which is an increase of 25 cases compared to the previous year.

Bernardo João, the provincial delegate of the OAA in Bengo, told that 41 of the 68 citizens assisted were women and 27 were men.

Complaints included lack of recognition of common-law unions, fraud, and regulation of parental authority.

João considered the OAA’s actions in Bengo regarding legal aid, professional internships, professional certificate delivery, and Delegation infrastructure improvement to be positive.

João said there is a need to expand the OAA’s legal services to the interior of the province to assist citizens who travel long distances in search of these services and praised the work of local lawyers, who have demonstrated exemplary conduct and emphasized that the OAA in Bengo is open to providing legal assistance to any citizen.

The Bengo Bar Association Delegation oversees 68 lawyers, 22 of whom are trainees.
