Africa-Press – Angola. The second commander of the National Police in Huambo province, sub-commissioner António Chagas, this Friday appealed to the staff of the Personal Security Unit and Protocol Entities (USPEP) for greater discipline and productivity in carrying out the mission.
The official commissioner was speaking at the provincial act celebrating the 30th anniversary of the existence of this body of the National Police, founded on June 30, 1992.
On the occasion, he said that the specialty of the activity and USPEP’s organic attributions of protocol protection require from each staff a high capacity for timely reaction, in order to prevent any act that threatens the physical integrity of the individuals who are under the custody of the police body. .
For this reason, he appealed to the staff for a lot of discipline and proactivity, a spirit of mission and rigor, in order to guarantee greater protection of protocol individualities and Sovereign bodies.
Sub-commissioner António Chagas also defended the improvement of the methods that govern the norms of protection and personal safety, as well as the continuous training and preparation of the staff.
He highlighted the accomplishments achieved over the 30 years of existence of the police body in the province, due to the zeal, abnegation, spirit of mission and discipline demonstrated by the staff, which forms the police unit, with the mission of protecting protocol entities, despite the various difficulties they sometimes face in fulfilling their tasks.
In turn, USPEP’s general staff in Huambo, superintendent Costa Adriano, pointed out the requalification and internal rotation of personnel at all levels, the academic, technical and professional improvement of the staff and the creation of conditions for the maintenance of infrastructures. structures, to prevent their degradation, so as to ensure the normal functioning of the organ, as the main challenges.
The commemoration of USPEP’s 30th anniversary in Huambo was marked by the awarding of medals and trophies to the winning teams in the 11 and indoor soccer tournaments, held on the occasion of the event.
During the activity, recognition certificates were given to two agents for their performance and dedication throughout the year.
USPEP is the former Protocol Individual Protection Unit, created in 1993, through Order No. 20/93, of 11 June, by the Council of Ministers, which approved the Statute of the National Police of Angola.
New designation results from the new statute of the National Police, approved by Presidential Decree no 152/19, of May 15, which in its article 45 creates the Personal Security Police and Protocol Entities (USPEP), with the mission of protecting leaders of the country, the diplomatic corps visiting the country, as well as other high national and foreign personalities.
