Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial commander of the National Police (PN) in Benguela, commissioner Aristófanes dos Santos, urged Monday, in Lobito municipality, the staff of the customs fiscal unit to refrain from acts of corruption and nepotism.
According to the official commissioner, who was speaking at the commemoration of the 27 years of existence of the Customs Fiscal Police, which is being celebrated yesterday, the staff assigned to this unit must control the fiscal and customs posts with an exemplary attitude, respect and enforce the law.
“They must continue to act against actions that harm the State, such as tax evasion, piracy, human trafficking, drug trafficking, violations of maritime and fisheries regulations, illegal immigration and smuggling crimes, tax and customs violations “, reinforced.
He said that the province of Benguela is home to the headquarters of the fourth region of the General Tax Administration (AGT), which extends to the provinces of Cuanza Sul, Huambo and Bié, so that the Fiscal Police has the responsibility of fully fulfilling the sector’s specialty missions with the maximum efficiency required, given the importance of tax activity in the Gross Domestic Product of the nation.
The commander stated that the day-to-day activities of the Customs Fiscal Police consist of permanent contact with processes related to customs clearance and inspection, to assess compliance with customs duties imposed by the Angolan Customs Tariff on goods that enter, transit and leave the country.
“This fact obliges the Tax Police agents to be guided by an exemplary conduct, coated with probity, loyalty, impartiality, zeal and a lot of dedication, so that the nation can be served with the greatest possible pride”, he emphasized.
Aristófanes dos Santos guaranteed that the PN will continue to work to guarantee public order and security, thus appealing to all citizens not to be carried away by conduct aimed at public disorder under the cover of the exercise of fundamental rights.
The commemorative act of the 27 years of existence of the Customs Fiscal Police was marked with the patenting of 18 staff to the degree of inspector.
