Africa-Press – Angola. The Luanda MPLA municipal secretariat promoted, this Tuesday, a mega march in support of the victory of the party and its head of list, João Lourenço, starting and ending in Nova Marginal.
Ermelindo Pereira, Luanda’s first municipal secretary, said that the victory, despite the defeat in Luanda, means that the country is in democracy, “hence the march. “We are in democracy, there are two possible outcomes, victory and the defeat. In our case, for the municipality of Luanda it was a defeat. Therefore, we are here to celebrate democracy and take this massage to our opponents, who despite losing, we recognize and congratulate the competing parties for having managed to convince the electorate in Luanda”, he stressed.
The march, which was led by Luanda’s municipal secretary, Ermelindo Pereira, was attended by members of the Luanda Municipal Committee and the General Staff of the Municipal Election Campaign, members of the urban district committees, directors of the grassroots action committees, militants, friends and sympathizers of the MPLA, OMA and JMPLA.
The march covered several points in the city of Luanda, namely Samba, Avenida 21 de Janeiro, Banco BIC, Multiperfil, to FAPA, Avenida Ho-Chi-Min, Largo das Escolas, Largo 1º de Maio, Cemitério da Santana.
He also visited the headquarters of the MPLA, Sagrada Família Churches, São Paulo, Lenjanconda, Luanda, Cimangola and Boa Vista.
The municipal secretary of the MPLA of Luanda, Ermelindo Pereira, guaranteed that, after the end of the electoral process, the staff will continue the execution of social projects, to guarantee better living conditions for the populations.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the mega march in support of the victory of the MPLA and the leader, João Lourenço, Ermelindo Pereira acknowledged that citizens want social conditions to be improved, such as education, basic sanitation, health, energy, security, with regard to policing, among others.
MPLA performs act of commemoration
The MPLA performs, today, at Campo Multiuso “Arena do Kilamba, in Luanda, an act of commemoration for the victory in the General Elections of 24 August.
According to the program sent, from 31 August to 3 September, various cultural and recreational activities will be carried out in all municipalities, urban districts and communes of the province, under the motto “We win with the Strength of the People”. .
Praise the MPLA and President João Lourenço for the work carried out for the benefit of Angolans in the period 2017-2022, commemorate the victory of the MPLA and encourage the party leader to continue to improve the national economy, maintaining the evolution of the diversification of the economy, the quality of the health and education sectors are among the objectives of the act.
The National Electoral Commission (CNE) declared, on Monday, in Luanda, João Lourenço as President of the Republic and Esperança da Costa as Vice-President of the Republic, after releasing the final results of the General Elections of 24 August, which confirmed the MPLA as the winning party, with 3,209,429 votes, corresponding to 51.17 percent of valid votes.
