Africa-Press – Angola. About 20 tonnes of food and building materials were donated by contractors in this city to support families displaced by the rains in Cuanza Norte province.
The gesture of solidarity is from eight civil construction companies operating in Cuanza Norte and is part of the social responsibility actions of operators in the sector.
The means given to the Provincial Government include 1,300 zinc sheets and more than 800 basic baskets consisting of rice, beans, corn flour, cooking oil, salt, sugar, wheat flour, hygiene products, among others.
On the occasion, the provincial director of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, Victoria Braga, praised the initiative of construction companies operating in the province.
He underlined that the gesture is a demonstration of the involvement of these companies in solving the problems that afflict the populations of the localities where they carry out activities.
The donation will benefit more than 9,000 citizens from the 10 municipalities in the province, whose homes were destroyed during the last rainy season.
Goods begin to be distributed to beneficiaries from next Friday.
In turn, the director of Communication and Press at the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Paulo Tecas, said that the sector will continue to appeal to civil construction operators to reinforce social responsibility actions, especially in support of needy populations. and casualties.
The said delivery took place within the framework of the visit that the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, made to Cuanza Norte, where he learned about the structural works underway in the municipalities of Cambambe and Cazengo.
