Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA, ruling party in Angola, launched this Saturday, in the municipality of Bocoio, its political agenda for 2023 in Benguela province, which highlights the construction of more schools and health units.

In a well-attended mass event, in the same municipality where this party launched the electoral campaign for the 2022/2027 five-year period, the first secretary of the MPLA in Benguela, Luís Nunes, announced the completion of 43 schools and the construction of another 50.

For the politician, these actions will guarantee a broad teaching and learning process for students.

Regarding health, Luís Nunes announced the construction of a regional hospital and another psychiatric hospital in the municipality of Cubal and the expansion of the regional hospital in Bocoio, with more specialties to serve the population with better quality.

As for the means of communication, he promised to conclude the municipal networks of Cubal, Ganda and Bocoio, as well as to rehabilitate the sections that connect the municipal headquarters to the communes and some localities with agricultural potential.

“We are going to build 300 dwellings and 600 evolutionary houses for the rehousing of families living in precarious and risky conditions”, he added.

The energy and water sectors will also deserve the government’s attention, with the expansion of the production capacity of thermal power plants and the energy distribution network, as well as improvements in water supply in all municipalities, according to the first secretary.

“These actions, which will be carried out this year, have the sole objective of making Benguela increasingly developed and inclusive”, stated the politician.

On the other hand, Luís Nunes detailed the ten axes that make up the MPLA’s political agenda to be implemented this year in Benguela province.

“Work harder and communicate better, improve the organization of the party, its insertion and approach to society, improve working methods, mobilization and occupation of young people and women, as well as deepening internal democracy”, are some of the proposed items.

The list of tasks, according to the source, also includes rescuing the feeling of love for the MPLA, preservation of unity and respect for diversity of thought, among other actions.

Luís Nunes warned the militants to face these challenges with a lot of responsibility, discipline, cohesion and patriotism.

“We will continue to promote a culture of peace and fraternal dialogue, supporting initiatives aimed at consolidating unity and national reconciliation”, he emphasized.

The cultural movement, based on theater and music, was part of the act, with the presence of local artists.

Representatives of the ten municipalities of the province, namely Benguela, Lobito, Catumbela, Baía Farta, Bocoio, Balombo, Cubal, Caimbambo, Ganda and Chongoroi witnessed the launch of the guidelines for the main actions of the MPLA in Benguela.
