Africa-Press – Angola. The country will have installed, by 2027, more than 900 MW of solar capacity and more than 1000 MW of battery storage capacity, with the aim of benefiting at least 7 million people in eight provinces, he said, in Friday, the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges.
According to the minister, the selected provinces are Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Moxico, Malanje, Cunene, Huíla, Namibe and Bié, respectively.
João Baptista Borges advanced, during the opening of the Forum on Energy Transition in Angola”, that the national energy transition process includes a broad reform in the regulatory and legal framework.
This same process, he pointed out, aims to integrate policies that promote competitive prices and greater attractiveness for the private sector in the renewable energy market.
The minister also highlighted the country’s position among the main oil producing nations in Africa, “having oil reserves estimated at 9 billion barrels and gas reserves estimated at 11 trillion cubic feet”.
In the field of solar energy, the official highlighted that Angola’s geographical position provides the country with a potential for solar energy, with excellent intensity and regularity.
The forum, promoted by Jornal Expansão, aimed to point out ways, suggest policy measures and actions to guarantee the industrialization of the country.
