Africa-Press – Angola. The Provincial Government of Cuanza-Norte will “definitely” relocate, within three months, the families affected by the last rains recorded in the province.
The announcement was made by the provincial governor of Cuanza-Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, during the delivery, on Friday, of various goods to 31 new affected families, including food, mattresses and hygiene material.
These are families living in containerized residences who also benefited from medical assistance, as part of the Provincial Government’s actions that also aim to combat malaria and other diseases.
When handing over the goods, Governor João Diogo Gaspar encouraged the injured families not to allow themselves to be “manipulated by people of bad faith”.
These people, said the governor, encourage victims to demonstrate in the streets to pressure the Government to immediately resolve their problems.
The Government is aware of its responsibilities and, as a result, will definitively relocate these families within three months, he said.
He informed that, at the moment, accelerated work is underway to complete the 31 residences, of the 450 under construction in the Quilómetro11 housing project, to accommodate these families.
João Gaspar guaranteed that he will continue to put pressure on the contractor and give these families all his attention to improve safety and basic sanitation conditions in the current accommodation.
The province of Cuanza-Norte has more than a thousand families affected by the rains, who lived in risk areas.
These families are awaiting resettlement in residences that the Government is building or land for directed self-construction.
