Cunene will carry out paralyzed socio-economic projects

Africa-Press – Angola. The director of the Studies and Planning Office (GEP), in Cunene province, Marcelino dos Santos, assured this Tuesday that he has a budget for the OGE/2023 for the execution of the 154 socio-economic projects that have been paralyzed and are ongoing in the region.

Speaking at a press conference on the Execution of the OGE-2023, he said that the financial allocation for Cunene is 140 billion, 18 million, 220 thousand and 996 cents, which will allow the execution of 117 actions of local scope and 37 central.

By territorial unit, he said that the municipality, with greater budgetary weight, is Cuanhama, with the amount of five billion, 364 million, 710 thousand and 554 kwanzas and with a smaller allocation Curoca, with two billion, 794 million, 188 thousand 759 kwanzas.

Compared to the 2022 OGE, he said there was an increase of 30 percent in the budget unit of the province, where last year it amounted to 46 billion, 551 million, 800 thousand and 55 kwanzas.

Marcelino dos Santos argued that they are good indicators and if there is no change from the macroeconomic point of view, the values in question will guarantee the execution of all the foreseen tasks.

He detailed that of the 117 projects of local scope, 59 are related to infrastructures, 21 to the education sector, 20 to water, seven to the energy sector, six to health and four to communication routes.

In the central domain, emphasis should be placed on structural projects to combat the effects of drought, in particular the works on the Ndué and Calucuve dams, retention of the right bank of the Cunene river, study and rehabilitation of 68 kilometers of the Otchindjau/Onconcua section of the Cahama road / Otchinjau, ravine stabilization among others.

He made it known that since the approval of the OGE on March 13th, the sum of 200 million kwanzas has been allocated to projects of local scope and municipal administrations.

The official also pointed out the execution of 10 approved projects, depending on the oil differential surplus, with a budget of more than three billion kwanzas.

In the portfolio of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), he said that only three projects were registered with a global value of 401 million kwanzas.

Marcelino dos Santos also supported the execution of eight projects, approved with the Treasury budget, budgeted at more than five billion kwanzas.

As for Development Support Expenditure (DAD), he justified the registration of nine projects, with an allocation of four billion, 452 million, 99 thousand and 629 kwanzas.

He added that the 2023 OGE had limitations on the entry of new projects, whose priority fell to the conclusion of all works started in 2013 to 2017 that, for various reasons, were paralyzed.

He said that the intention of the Executive is to release the project portfolio of the provincial governments, to allow the start of projects in 2024, based on the actions contained in the five-year period of 2023/2027.

With an area of 87 thousand 342 square kilometers and 1 million 17 491 inhabitants, the province of Cunene is administratively divided into six municipalities and 20 communes.
