Africa-Press – Angola. Angola will host the 2026 African Cycling Championship, announced on Wednesday in the city of Moçâmedes, Namibe province, the secretary general of the African Cycling Confederation (CAC), Bashir Mohamed.The fact was announced during the presentation ceremony of the 3rd edition of the Tour of Angola by bicycle. The good news was celebrated with enthusiasm by the public present.

On the occasion, the Confederation’s leader also spoke about the intention to include the Tour of Angola in the International Cycling Union (UCI) calendar by 2027.

For the vice-president of the Angolan Cycling Federation (FACI), Osvaldo Manuel, if it comes to fruition, the country will be recognized for its ability to organize events, which could bring some of the best competitors in the world to Angola.

“Mr. Bashir Mohamed has played the role of mediator to ensure that this goal is achieved. This will put Angola on another level internationally and, to achieve this, we just need to prove our organizational capabilities,” he said.

The race director of the Volta a Angola also spoke about the intention of bringing the 20 best African teams to the fourth edition of the race, as part of the 50 years of National Independence.
