Deadline for completion of works at the centrality of Ndalatando extended to October 2024

Africa-Press – Angola. The deadline for completion of the construction works of the first phase of the centrality of Ndalatando, in the province of Cuanza Norte, initially scheduled for December this year, has been extended to October 2024.

The first phase of the centrality, in charge of the company JONCE and which began to be built in 2018, foresees the construction of 14 buildings with four floors each, in a total of 212 T3 apartments and 12 shops.

The initial term was 18 months and a budget of six billion, 205 million, 454 thousand and 399 kwanzas.

The works were stopped for two years, due to financial constraints, in addition to successive extensions of deadlines for completion.

The information was provided to the press, in Ndalatando, by the person in charge of the company in charge of carrying out the contract, Rui Campos.

The works currently register a degree of physical execution of 42 percent, the same level of financial execution.

Rui Campos justified the extension of the term with the difficulties of importing finishing materials, due to the shortage of foreign exchange.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the inspection visit by the Minister of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, to the aforementioned works.

He added that corrections had been made to the work plan, in agreement with the Ministry of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing, as the project’s owner.

He assured that the work is still ongoing, with the masonry structure being completed and the hydraulic and electrical installation in the interior of the buildings, as well as in the exterior cladding, is in progress.

He underlined that the works do not face financial problems, because the owner is currently fulfilling his obligations.

Commenting on the matter, Minister Carlos Alberto dos Santos referred that the deadlines will be those set out in the corrected work plan.

He added that, due to the correction made, the project will undergo adjustments in its physical execution schedule.

The contract is now budgeted at 12 billion, 250 million, 869 thousand and 835 Kwanzas, after a financial adjustment of around 50 percent of the initial value, to offset the inflationary trend in the prices of construction materials.

The Minister of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing in Cuanza Norte learned about the structural works underway in the municipalities of Cambambe and Cazengo.

In Cambambe, it verified the degree of execution of the construction works of 60 houses for the rehousing of the victims of the Dondo rains and of the bridges over the Capacala and Subo rivers.

In Cazengo, in addition to inspecting the buildings built in the colonial era, he also noticed the construction works in the centrality of Ndalatando.
