Africa-Press – Angola. Since Thursday in Cunene province, the deputies of the 4th Specialized Work Commission of the National Assembly have carried out a field day, having on Saturday visited works of the Integrated Intervention Plan in Municipalities (PIIM) in Cuvelai and Namacunde.
This activity is part of the plan for verifying the socio-economic reality of the province of Cunene. The parliamentarians were, Saturday, in the municipalities of Cuvelai and Namacunde, where they supervised several projects, such as schools, health centers, water supply holes for the populations, roads undergoing rehabilitation, residences for teachers and doctors, as well as agricultural development projects and cattle raising.
Accompanying the parliamentary delegation during the work was the administrator of the municipality of Cuvelai, Germano Baptista, who highlighted the importance of the visit to verify the conditions of the population in that locality.
For the inhabitant Alfredo Lembembwa, the Government has to create support mechanisms for the producers of the commune, which aim at access to credit to boost the emergence of manufacturing industries, especially agricultural and livestock products, thus providing the creation of more jobs .
Deputy Olívio Quilumbo, when it came to summing up, considered the work “positive”, since it was possible to verify the various projects at the service of the populations, whether they are central or part of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM ).
“There are, in fact, positive aspects, but also aspects that need to be improved, some urgently, others over time. about 85%, which satisfies us because the local Government has been meeting the goals that the MPLA Executive set out to achieve”, admitted the deputy, who spoke on behalf of the parliamentary delegation.
PIIM works
Members of the Commission for State Administration and Local Power (4th CTE) began, on Thursday, a working visit to Cunene province, to assess the local social and economic reality.
Upon arrival in Ondjiva, the parliamentary delegation, led by deputy Gilberto Pereira, was received by the provincial governor Gerdina Didalelwa, with whom they held a meeting, in which they made known the socio-economic development projects of Cunene.
He informed, on the occasion, that the province has projects of central scope and the Integrated Plan of Intervention of Municipalities (PIIM), in the fields of Education, Health, Housing, Energy and Water, Construction and Rehabilitation of Roads at the level of the six municipalities of province.
In addition to Ondjiva, the deputies also visited the municipality of Cuanhama, where they could see the PIIM works in progress, for the construction of schools, health centers, residences for teachers and doctors. The Cafu canal was also part of the visit itinerary.
The municipal administrator of Cuanhama expressed his satisfaction with the visit, recognizing that “this is how the deputies exercise their role of monitoring, verifying and controlling the acts of the Executive in the implementation of community development programs”.
For the deputy Gilberto Pereira, coordinator of the parliamentary delegation, the balance of the visit is positive, since the contact with the populations made it possible to perceive not only the difficulties, but also the development of the province of Cunene, mainly those included in the Integrated Plan of Intervention in the Municipalities (PIIM). Projects that, according to the parliamentarian, “will give greater dignity to the populations of Cunene”.
