Deputy governor calls for greater attention to children's rights

Africa-Press – Angola. The deputy governor of Cabinda for the technical area and infrastructures, Agostinho da Silva, this Thursday appealed to civil society to be more involved in the protection of children’s rights, so that they can grow up with dignity.

Agostinho da Silva, who was speaking at the provincial act allusive to the International Children’s Day, recalled that the government incorporated international legal principles and instruments into national legislation to guarantee better protection of children.

The government has adopted administrative, legislative and other measures, with a view to implementing the universally recognized rights of children and enshrined in the Constitution without distinction of sex, religious belief or race.

He underlined that, despite the difficult conjuncture conditions that the national and international economy is going through, the government continues to make significant efforts to rebuild social infrastructures to increase the offer of maternal and child health services, schools, supply of drinking water and improvement of basic sanitation, aiming at raising the human development index.

He appealed to public and private institutions, families, churches and civil society to transmit behaviors of social and cultural interest to children, in order to contribute to the harmonious development of their personality.

The act, which took place at Primary School No. 170, in Fortaleza, took place under the motto “Municipalize the 11 commitments to better protect the child”.
