Africa-Press – Angola. Foreign diplomats accredited in Italy paid tribute to the former Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos. In a message written in the Book of Condolences opened at the Angolan Embassy in that country, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Italy, Claúdio Miscia, highlighted the role of José Eduardo dos Santos.
The Italian diplomat and former ambassador to Angola highlighted the role of the former President of the Republic in the liberation of the southern region of Africa and his conciliatory role in the conflicts on the continent.
The ambassador of Equatorial Guinea, Cecilia Obono Ndong, also left messages in the book, who recalled the ex-President’s struggle for the recognition of Angola as an independent nation.
The ambassador of Burundi, Esperance Ndayizeye, in turn, represented the group of African ambassadors in Italy and with the UN agencies in Rome, said that Africa has lost a conciliator, who helped to resolve many regional conflicts.
The host, Fátima Jardim, praised, in the Book of Condolences, President José Eduardo dos Santos for his dedication to achieving peace and national reconciliation.
