Africa-Press – Angola. Two hundred and twenty-eight people with disabilities and traditional midwives in Bié province today benefited from various means of transportation and labor, in a gesture by the Lwini Foundation.

The means delivered include 20 wheelchairs for adults and 10 for children, five tricycles, 20 pairs of crutches, an equal number of crutches, 15 units of watches, an orientation stick, glasses for the blind and 120 pairs of socks.

There are also 10 complete kits for traditional midwives, three bundles of used clothing (bale) and kitchen, mechanics, sewing, electricity and agriculture equipment.

When proceeding with the delivery, the executive director of the “Lwini Foundation”, Alfredo Ferreira, referred that the donation aims to make the lives of people with disabilities simpler, helping them to integrate into society.

He guaranteed that this kind of activity, which is part of the commemorations of the 25th anniversary of the creation of this foundation, to be celebrated on 30th June, will be extended in other provinces of the country, later this year.

The disabled person Maurício Estrela, upon receiving the wheel chair, thanked the institution for the gesture, referring that it will allow him to carry out his activities more easily, with emphasis on going to school.

He also said that it had been more than 10 years since he had received a chair and had great difficulty dealing with various matters.

Evalina Cassova, a traditional midwife for over 40 years, clarified that it was also the first time to benefit from a complete kit, adding that it will improve the performance of labor in the community where she operates.

The act was attended by the deputy governor for political, social and economic areas, Alcida de Jesus Camatele Sandumbo.
