Africa-Press – Angola. The Bishop of the Tocoista Church, Dom Afonso Nunes, encouraged, this Wednesday, in Luanda, Angolans to preserve and value public assets to serve future generations and avoid duplication of expenditure by the government.
According to the Bishop who spoke in the opening speech of the Fifth Episcopal Conference, which takes place from the 20th to the 21st of this month, under the motto “The dynamics of Church Reforms Consist in the Improvement of Its Sources”, the conservation of public assets will allow the government to invest in the construction of new infrastructure and ensure the growth of communities.
The leader of the Tocoistas condemned the spirit of vandalism that has taken over many citizens who break out and steal public goods that should serve to improve the lives of the people and the country in general.
He regretted the behavior of some citizens who insist on committing acts of vandalism, especially in public infrastructures, which delays development and puts the social stability of the population at risk.
Dom Afonso Nunes reiterated that the Fifth Conference will reflect on the country’s current socioeconomic situation, with emphasis on the issue of hunger, which plagues a large part of the population, unemployment, water mining, rape of minors, among others.
“As the Tocoist Church we cannot remain unscathed and immune, we must analyze how we can contribute to dynamize the situation and for that, we need good-hearted, free people who are patriots and who love their country”, stated the Bishop.
When asked whether the Tocoista Church depends on a budgetary allocation from the State, he considered there to be no harm, given the fact that the church also participates in the country’s liberation and pre-independence process, as well as helping to pacify spirits and assisting in the election process.
“The state helping the church with a donation in its social mission is normal, Americans act this way and it has never been a sin, only Angolans think this way, if the government does not do this it puts the country in an economic crisis, because theft happens when everything is taken away from a group and nothing is put into the service of God”, he said.
Festive Court
In relation to the Festive Quadra, he called for spending restraint because the world economy is ephemeral and sick and could surprise everyone in the future.
“If we don’t save a little for tomorrow, we could face tremendous difficulties, so I recommend families to be careful with their spending during this festive season, so that after the holidays they can have something to cover the main difficulties”, he said.
The appeal also extends to alcohol consumers, to avoid harm, doing everything in moderation, avoiding road accidents and other material and human damage, so that the country can exist with healthy and unmutilated people.
Still on the 31st, the church will hold Holy Communion with approximately 30 thousand people and expects to baptize more than two thousand people.
Participating in the 5 conference are those responsible for the highest level of the Church around the world.
