Africa-Press – Angola. The Summit of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC) recognized, this Saturday, the role of President João Lourenço in the prevention and resolution of conflicts in content.

The recognition was mentioned by the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, at the end of the ECCAS Summit, which took place in Libreville, Gabon, with the participation of the Angolan Head of State.

Téte António noted that the prevention and resolution of conflicts in content is fundamental for true regional integration.

According to the head of Angolan diplomacy, the ECCAS Summit recognized the efforts being made by President João Lourenço in preventing and pacifying conflicts in the country, in coordination with regional communities.

Force in State of Alert

The Summit decided to support the deployment of the State of Alert Force of the regional brigades, with the organization of a maritime military maneuver to take place in 2025.

By the way, Minister Téte António noted that Angola, Gabon and Congo, countries with more capabilities in terms of the Navy, will be responsible for ensuring that this maritime maneuver has the expected results.

According to minister Téte António, the reforms underway at ECCAS are producing the effects that were expected, for whom the body has once again had a voice among the functional regional economic communities.

He noted that ECCAS has once again become an obligatory interlocutor for those who want to deal with Central African issues and is on the right path.

In terms of issues concerning the organization, he maintained that the region’s conflict defense and prevention mechanisms have seen several advances.

The Summit also recognized the dynamics of Angolan diplomacy to support the deployment of the East African force in Sudan, as well as the situation in CAR and the lifting of the arms embargo in that country.

Regarding the organization’s funding, the minister said that it was decided that the form of contribution will prevail to make the organization increasingly financially healthy.

The event also reviewed the issue of international candidacies and, at this moment, for the Central region there is the candidacy of Cameroon for president of the General Assembly of the United Nations, which competes with that of South Africa (austral region).

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, this matter regarding the support of candidacies will be decided at the level of the African Union (AU).

ECCAS Committee of Wise Men

The Summit approved the composition of the ECCAS Committee of Wise Men, with the inclusion of itinerant ambassador Dombele Mbala Bernardo, representing the Republic of Angola.

Dombele Bernardo was a representative of the Angolan diplomatic mission in Gabon from 1982 to 2000.

The former president of RCA Samba Panza and Madame Kalala, from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are also among the personalities of this Committee, composed of seven members.
