Electrification among the main challenges in the province of Uíge

Africa-Press – Angola. The province of Uíge, which will host the first meeting of the Local Governance Council, on the 22nd and 23rd of this month, has as its main challenge the electrification of the region, to generate progress and awaken the agrarian sector.

Only three municipalities, out of the 16 that make up the province, have electricity from the public network.

In an interview with the press, the provincial governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, said that the biggest challenge was to continue working on electrifying the 13 missing municipalities, distributing water to the population, building roads, among other projects.

He stated that these concerns will be presented at the first calendar meeting of this year, where he should review the status of the country’s main socio-economic impact projects.

Regarding the electrification of the region, he revealed that preparatory work is underway for the start of work, from the approval of documentation to other processes.

For José Carvalho da Rocha, the electrification of the province could generate progress in the region, job creation and opportunities for entrepreneurs to develop their activities.

The meeting, which will be led by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, will bring together 18 provincial governors and several ministerial department heads.
