The rehabilitation of National Road 240, which connects the Biula/Cazage/Muconda and Luau sections, Lunda Sul province, will contribute to the development of the country’s economy, particularly in the Eastern region, improving traffic and trade in agricultural products, mining and other services.
The guarantee was given this Friday, in the municipality of Muconda, by the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, at the time of consignment of the rehabilitation works of the respective section.
He made it known that the section will allow road connection on national roads 180, with the cities of Saurimo and Dundo (Lunda Norte), as well as the municipality of Luena (Moxico), which will also quickly connect with the province of Cuando Cubango.
He urged the company responsible to work at full speed, in order to have the road completed within the established deadlines, which will be a great satisfaction for the population, given that the section presents a lot of concern, the circulation will be improved.
He made it known that the demining work in that section is carried out by the National Demining Center, whose work has already begun, so that the work can be delivered within the established deadline.
He asked the population to be the first inspectors of the project and assured that the commitment of the company responsible for the work and the inspector has been established to ensure the employment of young people who live around the section.
Social impact works in Lunda Sul
The Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, announced for the first quarter of 2024, the rehabilitation of the Muriege/Chiluange/Cassai-Sul section and the construction of two thousand housing centers in the municipalities of Cacolo, Dala , Muconda and Saurimo.
He said that the homes that will be built will give priority to young people and public employees in this province.
Likewise, the province will continue in 2024 with the ravine containment program, highlighting five of them.
He also said that one of the Ministry’s priorities, for the province of Lunda Sul, is the conservation of national road 230, in the Saurimo/Muconda/Luau section, so that motorists can maintain safe traffic.
