Africa-Press – Angola. Endiama is preparing the process for its certification in “ISO 9001”, an international reference for certifying Quality Management Systems for products or services from the Angolan diamond company.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, in Luanda, by the director of Endiama’s Standardization, Auditing, Compliance and Quality Control Office, Mário Tunga, who envisioned achieving this challenge within a year.

Certification with ISO 9001 recognizes the effort of a given company to ensure the conformity of its products and/or services, as well as the satisfaction of its customers, ensuring not only their loyalty, but their own competitiveness and sustainability.

Speaking on the sidelines of the III Annual Compliance Promotion Forum, promoted today by the consultancy company NF-CONFOJUR, the person responsible said that this process also includes the company’s certification in “ISO 37001” and, subsequently, to “ISO 14001”, the latter still requiring some internal adjustments.

ISO 37001 is a standard that was designed for organizations/companies to take proactive measures to prevent bribery and corruption, that is, the tool was created to help organizations identify corruption and foster a culture of repudiation to bribery, by specifying the requirements for the successful implementation of an Anti-Corruption Management System (SGA).

Meanwhile, ISO 14001 is a standard that establishes basic guidelines for the development of a correct environmental management system, within a company, aiming at its compliance with the reality of the enterprise.

Therefore, he considered Endiama’s certification process with these standards to be of crucial importance, as they are one of the main tools that allow attracting more partners and investors who, consequently, will boost the activity of the mining sector in the country.

“Currently, large multinationals intend to work only with companies or entities that have well-tuned compliance and are effectively certified, because certification is a way of showing that a given company is committed to good practices, transparency, prudent and sound management. ”, he clarified.

On the other hand, Mário Tunga also highlighted that Endiama brought the compliance axis into its new organic structure, one of the tools that has helped the company to scrupulously comply with regulatory and legislative requirements, thus allowing the fine-tuning of internal control.

With this instrument, he said, the state diamond company began to increasingly publicize the legislation that must be obeyed, which allowed it to have a “filter” with national and international operators in the mining sector, giving possibilities to select suitable suppliers with more- worth it.

He said that the application of compliance also allows for “Due Diligence” (investigation and analysis of information on a given company), to better understand the operational status of each company in the mining sector.

With this, he continued, Angola shows the world that it strictly complies with transparency and good international practices.

Under the motto “Adoption of environmental and sustainable measures in the mineral and petroleum resources sector”, the III Annual Compliance Promotion Forum aimed to promote the multidisciplinary scope of Compliance for organizations and the country.

The event brought together different experts who addressed topics such as “Transparency and compliance for the effective presence of national companies and qualification of the national workforce in the mineral and petroleum resources sector”, “Financial System and the petroleum and mineral resources sector” and “Renewable energies: Challenges, regulations and perspectives”.

NF-CONFOJUR, the company promoting the forum, is dedicated to holding events to support companies in preventing financial losses, caused by non-compliance with legal and ethical standards, contributing to the creation of an intact and legally safe business environment.
