Africa-Press – Angola. Construction work on National Road 230, which connects Malanje/Saurimo, over a 625-kilometre route, is around 70 percent completed, said the Minister of Public Works, Carlos dos Santos, who is assessing the level of work. in the province of Lunda Sul.
Speaking to the press, at the end of a two-day working visit to the city of Saurimo, Lunda Sul province, the minister considered the work on the EN/230 satisfactory, judging by the level of the work already achieved, adding that with time drought that is approaching, the works will evolve considerably, thus allowing the fulfillment of contractual deadlines.
He referred that two years ago it was very difficult to cover the Malanje/Saurimo section, it was done in three days, yesterday the scenario is different, with the work already done, in one day it is possible to reach the eastern region.
In addition, EN/230, lot 7, is of concern to the supervising ministry, a situation that merited a recommendation to reinforce the hiring of more human resources and technical means, for the speed of works on the section.
Regarding EN/180, Saurimo/Lucapa (Lunda Norte), Carlos dos Santos, also said that this year the 149 kilometers and the bridge will be completed, which will return better movement of people and goods efficiently.
On the other hand, the EN/180 that connects Saurimo/ Dala (Lunda Sul), the works will be delivered in 2024, asphalting works are being carried out, in an extension of 106 kilometers, including sub-base in laterite and soil base -gravel.
Verification of buildings
Carlos dos Santos visited four buildings, in the city of Saurimo, which are of some concern. To this end, in the coming days, the Angola Engineering Laboratory will travel to Lunda Sul to assess the condition of the buildings.
According to the minister, there is no building in an imminent situation of ruin, but there are some that are worrying, due to their visible unhealthy condition and poor condition if no intervention is carried out.
He added that at country level they control 509 buildings subdivided into three levels, of which 139 will be validated with technical information by the Angola Engineering laboratory, taking into account the poor conditions they present.
On the other hand, the minister made it known that the buildings that could be demolished, new buildings with the same characteristics will be built in the spaces, respecting the architectural design.
