EU intends to strengthen cooperation with the Ombudsman's Office in promoting human rights

Africa-Press – Angola. The ambassador of the European Union (EU) in Angola, Rosário Bento Pais, stated, this Tuesday, in Luanda, that the institution intends to strengthen cooperation ties with the Ombudsman’s Office, especially in the areas of promoting human rights and in staff training.

Speaking to the press, at the end of a hearing with the Ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, the European diplomat highlighted the excellent cooperative relations between the two institutions, defending, therefore, the need for them to be expanded to other areas.

On the occasion, the official presented the EU projects for the period 2021-2027, with emphasis on promoting good governance, economic diversification, sexual and reproductive health, freedom of the press, defense and protection of vulnerable people, among others.

For her part, the Ombudsman requested the support of the European Union for the implementation of virtual hearings throughout the country, with the aim of increasingly publicizing the role of the institution in defending the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens.
