Africa-Press – Angola. The Executive plans to mobilize approximately 330 billion kwanzas (USD1 = 912Kz) in the current financial year for the implementation of the National Program for the Construction and Rehab of General Education Schools.

According to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic, the decision resulted from a meeting held on Tuesday (17), by the Head of State, João Lourenço, with the Multisectoral Commission responsible for drafting the proposal for the aforementioned program.

According to the presented diagnosis, the country has a deficit of approximately 3,200 schools, in addition to the need to rehabilitate another 1,300 school infrastructures.

As part of the program’s implementation, the reinforcement of the education system is also planned with the hiring of approximately 34,000 staff members, including teachers and non-teaching personnel, over the next three years, in order to ensure the operation of the new infrastructure and improve teaching and learning conditions.

The initiative aims to progressively reduce the number of children out of the education system and expand the school network throughout the national territory.
