Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State, João Lourenço, informed this Friday, in Luanda, that the conditions have been created for public funding for the electoral campaign, whose attribution depends on the validation of the candidacies by the Constitutional Court.
Speaking this morning at the opening of the Meeting of the members of the Council of the Republic convened to analyze the date of the General Elections of 2022, João Lourenço said that on the 26th of September, the five-year term of office of the President of the Republic and the Members of the National Assembly in office.
“Under the terms of paragraph 1 of article 112 of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, general elections must be called up to 90 days before the end of the mandate”, said the President.
In order for general elections to be called, he said, the Organic Law on General Elections requires the National Electoral Commission to issue an opinion to the Head of State on the existence of conditions for them to be held within the constitutional deadlines and that the Council of the Republic be heard. .
