Africa-Press – Angola. Two thousand 853 obsolete explosives were destroyed this Saturday by the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) in the Calueyo sector, on the outskirts of Caála city, Huambo province.

82-caliber mortar explosives, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines and various out-of-use ammunition are included in the war material destroyed.

According to a note from the FAA Demining Brigade A, the detonation of the explosives took place, without any surprises, after an awareness campaign with the local community, carried out in partnership with the Media, Police National and Municipal Administration of Caála.

These are actions carried out at specific moments, to provide the security of the troops and, at the same time, the permanent monitoring of war material, in order to avoid accidents in the course of handling explosives.

The last destruction of material of this kind took place in 2020, also in the municipality of Caála, in the western corridor of Huambo province.
