Africa-Press – Angola. The command of the East Military Region (RML) of the FAA needs means of transport and related materials to reinforce patrols along the border of Angola with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia.
The fact was made known to the press by the commander of the RML of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Lieutenant General David Manuel Cavanda, on the occasion of the visit, of a few hours, that the governor Ernesto Muangala carried out, this Tuesday, to the of the Eastern Military Region.
Official data indicate that more than 7,000 foreign citizens entered the country in the last 12 months, including democratic Congolese, Zambians, Kenyans, via the border with neighboring countries (DRC and Zambia).
According to the general officer, illegal immigration has been massively practiced by foreign citizens, given the extensive land and river border between Angola/DRC (over two km) and Zambia (about 1,100 km).
According to General Cavanda, this situation constitutes “a great concern, and to fight it you need forces and means that are scarce”.
He hopes that the visit of the provincial governor, Ernesto Muangala, will serve as a foundation for overcoming this situation, giving them their own means to reinforce border patrols.
In brief, Governor Ernesto Muangala highlighted the degree of organization of the RML command and said he had the support of the FAA during his governance, especially in issues of demining, health, security, among other areas that the staff can intervene in time of peace.
At the beginning of this month of June, the commander of the Army branch of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), general João Serafim Kiteculo, assessed the degree of combat preparation of the troops of the 30th Motorized Infantry Brigade, stationed in the municipality of Alto Zambeze, province from Moxico.
The visit was also aimed at verifying border security and the state of operational, combative and educational-patriotic preparedness of the troops of the 30th Motorized Infantry Brigade.
The Eastern Military Region, based in the city of Luena, Moxico province, including the command of the 3rd Division, in Lunda Sul province, and the 32nd Motorized Infantry Brigade, in Lunda Norte.
