Africa-Press – Angola. The first elected dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universidade Agostinho Neto, Luiekakio Afonso, promised to work to make the institution a national and international reference.
At the inauguration, held on Monday, Luiekakio Afonso said that the goal is to transform the Faculty of Social Sciences into an organic unit of reference in the area of research, especially in the field of Social Sciences.
The goal, to be achieved in the five-year period 2022-2027, also includes a commitment to human resources, social action, continuous training of the teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as the inclusion of the student community in actions related to university extension.
Human resources, he stressed, are the basis of any organization and, in order to ensure efficiency in the management of human capital, he promises to implement courses of continuous improvement, both internal and external. “We will also implement the evaluation of teachers and non-teachers, as a way to encourage the promotion of careers”.
Another goal, he says, is the replacement of subsidies, medical and drug assistance, as well as the reactivation of the institution’s medical center and cafeteria. “Improving working conditions, promoting students, introducing professional internships, laboratory practices and fieldwork are also on the list of concerns”, she explained.
During the term of office, the dean also wants to establish partnerships with public and private companies, as well as national and international organizations, especially the United Nations. “The institution will not be left behind, in relation to the digital transformation underway in the country”, he recalled.
Therefore, it promised to invest, gradually, in digitalization programs for all academic and scientific processes, to create the pedagogical conditions and technologies necessary for distance and blended learning.
“One of the innovations to be implemented is the introduction of the degree course in Planning and Spatial Planning, to respond to the challenges of the municipalization process underway in the country”, he highlighted.
As for postgraduate courses, in addition to doubling attention, the institution, he informed, will also create conditions to introduce a master’s degree in African History, Social Anthropology, Demography, as well as open post-doctoral studies, as a strategy to stimulate more the investigation.
