Africa-Press – Angola. The administrator of the municipality of Muangueji, eastern province of Lunda-sul, Crispim Cabongo, announced that the first music and dance festival called “FestiMuangueji” will take place in 2027, bringing together artists from various generations across the country and honoring those who have contributed to the development of culture.

The official was speaking at the gala dinner held on Thursday (19), as part of the municipality’s first anniversary, celebrated on Feb 20th, as a result of the Political and Administrative Division (DPA).

Crispim Cabongo said that the event will have the support or sponsorship of mining companies based in the region and various entrepreneurs.

He noted that music and dance festivals are crucial for the promotion of culture, integration, and local economic development, functioning as meeting points that strengthen collective identities.

He emphasized that the event will boost tourism, generate temporary jobs, and preserve traditions, creating an environment of artistic expression and well-being, essential for the economy and social cohesion.

On the other hand, the official said that the construction of several infrastructures, such as schools, health units, improvement of communication routes, extension of the public energy and water network, are among the priorities for the current year.

He appealed to the population and civil society to contribute to the reconstruction of the municipality.

The official also called on national and foreign entrepreneurs to establish their businesses in the area, with a greater focus on the agricultural, fishing and industrial sectors.

During the gala, prominent figures from the district and beyond were honored for their contribution to the reconstruction of the municipality.

The Municipality of Muangueji has a territorial extension of 3,651 square km and an estimated population of 153,402 inhabitants.
