Africa-Press – Angola. The 13th edition of the Benguela International Fair (FIB), the largest in the South region, will be held between the 22nd and 26th of May, with 342 companies scheduled, representing the country, but also Portugal, Brazil and Turkey.

The event, whose 2023 edition was best attended by the company Sanlam Angola Seguros, aims to promote the economic and industrial potential of the southern region of Angola, with the aim of attracting investments for the development of the logistics chain and creating a good business environment.

Speaking at the launch of the 13th edition of FIB, taking place at the Ombaka National Stadium, the president of the Board of Directors of the Eventos Arena group, Bruno Albernaz, foresees, for this year, a seven percent increase in the number of exhibitors compared to the edition last.

According to the PCA of Eventos Arena, in this edition, under the motto “Dynamizing Potentials to Transform the Economy”, companies will have four exhibition pavilions available spread throughout the interior of the stadium.

In the outdoor space, he noted, stands will be set up to display products and services, especially machinery, as well as restaurant and entertainment areas.

Unlike past editions, this year a tent will be set up outside the stadium for conferences, technical presentations and debates, with a view to future business and partnerships.

In previewing the event, Bruno Albernaz also guaranteed the maintenance of 50 percent discounts on the occupancy costs of the pavilions (1, 2, 3 and 4) exclusively for companies based in the province of Benguela, in order to stimulate their participation.

In addition to national exhibiting brands in various segments, the official also said that the presence of business groups from countries such as Portugal, Brazil and Turkey is practically guaranteed.

“This year, the expectation is that the Benguela International Fair will once again have the participation of exhibitors from abroad, mainly from agribusiness”, he said.

Along with the increase in exhibitors, Bruno Albernaz pointed out as a new feature of this edition the focus on ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies), to facilitate communication and interaction during the five days of the event.

With this, he admitted, the aim is to provide a “Network” space for everyone to be connected, thus allowing the largest number of businesses possible to be promoted during FIB 2024.

Attracting investments

On the occasion, he highlighted that the province of Benguela has been attracting investors in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, logistics, renewable energy and technology, with benefits for the Center-South region.

Hence it can be said that, due to its privileged location and strategic infrastructures, such as the Benguela Railway and the Port of Lobito, the province plays a dynamic role in the national economy.

In this context, it emphasizes that the FIB’s objectives are aligned with the need to boost the transformation of these local potentials into wealth and well-being in the region, through the generation of jobs.

Conditions

In turn, the provincial vice-governor of Benguela for Technical Services and Infrastructures, Adilson Gonçalves, highlights the economic importance of the FIB, while ensuring that the conditions are being created for the success of the event.

Adilson Gonçalves sees the Benguela International Fair as important for boosting the economic development of the province and the country, promoting business.
