Africa-Press – Angola. The coach of 1.o de Agosto, Filipe Nzanza, attributed this Wednesday, in Luanda, the team’s four-day break as the cause of the draw against Académica do Lobito (0-0), in a tight game to the 11th round of the National Football Championship (Girabola 2023-24).
Speaking to the press at the end of the match, played at the França Ndalu stadium, he stated that the agenda did not include this Wednesday meeting and gave the group a break, adding that the reverse communication was a surprise.
He added the fact that the team went on strike on Monday, noting that the team only had one training session to welcome the academics, with the draw being a reflection of that.
Filipe Nzanza lamented the bad financial situation that the “red and black” club has experienced in the last two years, calling for a solution to be found, with a view to motivating the squad and all workers.
In his outburst, he considered the club’s players and staff as true heroes, as even with several pending issues on their salaries, they continue to work hard for the club.
“We are showing our face because we have the 1st of August in our hearts and we will continue as long as we can”, he stressed, adding that only those within the collective know the extent of the internal problems.
In turn, the assistant coach of Académica do Lobito, Carlos Sambaka, stated that his squad suffered from many physical problems, a factor that influenced the result.
However, he valued the point achieved in his opponent’s stronghold, promising to continue working to maintain the cycle with positive results.
With this result, 1.o de Agosto has 21 points, in 5th place, while Académica do Lobito is 9th overall, with 16 points.
