A large number of public projects in the province of Cuanza Norte, 190 kilometers from Luanda, are paralyzed, as a result of financial constraints, causing a negative impact on increasing the supply of basic essential services and improving the living conditions of the population .

This fact was revealed this Monday by the vice-governor of Cuanza Norte for Technical Services and infrastructure, Mendonça Luís, alluding that the lack of funding has been negatively influencing the maintenance of the province’s internal roads, which has seen reduced traffic. roads in traffic conditions from 950 to 250 kilometres.

The official was speaking during a meeting with the committee of female MPs from the MPLA parliamentary group, which is on a six-day working visit to the province, to assess the development situation and the public investment projects underway in the province.

Mendonça Luís also expressed the concern of the local Government for the lack of funding that is affecting the execution of several works, with emphasis on the asphalting of the road between the municipalities of Golungo Alto and Ngonguembo, in progress since 2007, the construction of 460 social housing in the locality of KM 11 (outskirts of Ndalatando), health units and schools in several municipalities.

The deputies were also informed of the current progress of the construction work on the new water system, collected from the river Lucala, in the municipality with the same name, which will reinforce the supply to the city of Ndalatando and other locations where the route of the conduct.

Mendonça Luís also informed that under the PIIM, the province has planned for 2023 the execution of 86 actions, 76 of which are local and eleven are central, some of which were approved in previous years.

He clarified that of the PIIM actions, 22 have already been concluded, 29 are in progress and four are yet to start, with the sectors of education with 30 and health (17), the ones that host the largest number of projects.

In another sense, he said that 86 million kwanzas had been invested in various actions of the Public Investment Program (PIP), from January to April of the current year, at a time when Cuanza Norte, within the framework of the investment portfolio, foresees a budget of 15.9 billion kwanzas for 2023.

Regarding the Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PDLCP), he said, the province was awarded 4.2 billion kwanzas, for the period from January to March of the current year, of which 112 million kwanzas were made available and executed 106.3 million.

The official appealed to the advocacy of MPLA deputies by the national circle, for greater speed in the release of funds, to finance several projects that are paralyzed in the province and with a negative impact on the lives of the populations.

In turn, deputy João Diogo Gaspar, who heads the delegation, highlighted the fact that the province is one of the few with an uninterrupted supply of electricity in all municipal seats, but expressed concern at the high number of paralyzed public projects, due to lack of financing.

He guaranteed that he will advocate the situation with the central bodies of the MPLA party and the government, a situation that will include verification visits to certify the reality of the information received.

The visit of the deputies includes verification of various works and social projects, in addition to contacts with the administrations and directorates of the party in the ten municipalities of the province.
