Africa-Press – Angola. Banco Alimentar Angola and the Omatapalo group are promoting this Saturday and Sunday, in Huíla, Benguela and Luanda, a campaign to collect and distribute food for charities.

The campaign arrives in the province of Huíla for the first time and will benefit 23 charities that care for children and the elderly, a partnership whose objective is to combat hunger and promote food security, according to Omatapalo spokesperson, Edmar Manuel.

Speaking in Lubango, he stressed that the activity is an “important milestone” for the group, in the journey of its social responsibility and commitment to communities.

The campaign, he said, usually takes place in the provinces of Luanda and Benguela, but this year it includes Huíla, an initiative that counts on the participation of volunteer employees from the Huíla business group, in order to increase, to more than 20, the collection points .

The donations, according to the source, are destined for 23 shelter institutions and are expected to collect basic food items such as milk, rice, pasta, oil, grains and beans, tuna, sausages, biscuits and breakfast cereals.

“We are deeply dedicated to the cause of eradicating hunger in Angola. The partnership with Banco Alimentar de Angola is a significant step in our mission to improve the well-being of all Angolans. This partnership is a testament to our unwavering commitment to actively contributing to the growth and well-being of our nation,” said the spokesperson.

In turn, the president of the Food Bank, Henrique Nunes, said that hunger is still a reality in many regions of the country, but this initiative represents hope for everyone.

“We are grateful for the support of the Omatapalo group, as together we can make a difference in the lives of people in need, so I believe that our work will not only provide immediate relief to several families, but will also lay solid foundations for a more sustainable and prosperous future for Angolans”, he expressed.
