Former Combatants in Cuanza-Norte highlight benefits of exemption from emoluments

Africa-Press – Angola. Former combatants and veterans of the country in the municipality of Cambambe, Cuanza Norte province, highlighted, this Thursday, in Dondo, the benefits of exemption and subsidy from payment of fees and charges for public services.

The Ministry of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland recently launched the former combatant’s identification card, which, among other benefits, exempts them from various obligations.

The fact was expressed in a message of thanks, read by the former combatant, Joaquim Tunguno, when handing out cards to 23 beneficiaries of the Ministry of Former Combatants and Veterans of the country in the municipality of Cambambe.

In the message, the former combatants recognized that the exemption will allow beneficiaries to save financial resources.

He added that this segment of society is experiencing numerous difficulties and the “low” values of the subsidies awarded (23 thousand Kwanzas/month) do not support the expenses of paying for water, electricity, public transport and access for descendants to the education system.

They requested, on the other hand, speed in regulating the use of this instrument, through specific legislation, to allow respect and solidarity from service providing institutions.

In the municipality of Cambambe, 123 people are registered, all covered by these exemptions.

The deputy municipal administrator for the Financial and Budget Sector, José Macuanda Manda Fama, said that the delivery of the first 23 cards reflects the Executive’s recognition of the contribution of former combatants and veterans of the country.

He highlighted that the gesture fits into a set of social actions to benefit this fringe of society.

The process of distributing subsidy cards to former combatants was launched by the Executive on January 15th, in Ndalatando, with the delivery of the first cards, to cover 1,315 people assisted at Cuanza Norte level.
