The Formigas do Cazenga team receives a visit from 1.o de Agosto today at 4:00 pm at the local Sports Pavilion, in a game counting towards the seventh round of the regular phase of the National Senior Women’s Basketball Championship, LigaAfter having played in the Luanda Provincial without some players, in addition to counting on the return of Maria Fula, the club’s management secured the services of Angelina Ngolombe “Lindinha”. The two have expanded the range of options for coach João Formosa.
The resilience of the squad was evident in the fourth round, when the Cazenga team beat Interclube, the title holders, in the first surprise of this edition of the competition. Today, the warriors will once again welcome one of the main candidates and hope to surprise Paulo Macedo’s team.
However, the military team will face an opponent known for its resilience, especially since it will be playing at home in front of its own fans, an extra motivation for one of the big games of the round.
To counter the hosts, the military team can count on a squad made up of experienced players and a more cohesive team. With these ingredients, a close match is expected, with 1.o de Agosto being the favourites, but without ruling out a surprise from the warriors.
The matchday also has in store a no less important match between Sporting de Luanda and Interclube, scheduled for 4:00 pm, at the Pavilhão do Vila Clotilde. This is a difficult match to predict, judging by the parity between the teams.
The round starts at 2:00 pm, at the Pavilhão Desportivo do Cazenga, with the match between Escorpiões de Viana and Interclube-B, two evenly matched teams.
