Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan gas exports, in the first quarter of this year, totaled 966 thousand and 394 metric tons, valued at 393 million 600 thousand and 348 US dollars, which represented a reduction in the sale value of 37.48%, compared to the last quarter of 2023.

The drop in revenue for this product, made up of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Butane and Condensates, was due to the low prices observed on the international market throughout the period under analysis, according to the Secretary of State for Petroleum and Gas, José Barroso.

When speaking this Thursday, in Luanda, regarding the meeting to present the results of oil companies, referring to the first quarter of this year, the leader said that the volume of exports of this product registered an increase of 0.55%, in comparison to the fourth quarter of last year.

Of total Angolan exports, LNG contributed 750,287 thousand metric tons (77.64%), Butane (220.52 metric tons), Propane (181,941 thousand) and Condensates (33,946 thousand).

As for destinations, LNG was mainly exported to India (54.65%), Italy (18.06%), Thailand (9.37%), the Netherlands (9.04%) and the United Kingdom (8.88%). %), while Propane went to the USA (11.40%), China (11.23%) and Portugal (5.05%) and Butane was exported to Namibia.

In the last quarter of 2023, the sector recorded exports of 961 thousand and 153 metric tons of gas, which resulted in revenue of 629 million 572 thousand and 797 dollars.

However, the export of 966 thousand and 394 metric tons in the fourth quarter of 2024 represented a decrease of 15.78%, in relation to the first quarter of 2023, which recorded the sale of one million 147 thousand and 500 metric tons and made it possible to collection of 970 million 269 thousand and 767 dollars.

Until November 2023, 30 countries imported and consumed Angolan Liquefied Natural Gas, produced by the Angola LNG factory, in a universe of around 20 countries that produce and export this commodity in the world.

In addition to being part of this short list of natural gas producing and exporting countries, Angola LNG, with an installed capacity to produce 5.2 million metric tons per year, represents more than 1% of world production.

In other words, of the approximately 400 million tons of gas produced by these countries, in 2022, for example, Angola contributed more than 1% of its production, exported to more than 25 nations, in a group of around 47 importing countries of this product in the world, according to Angola LNG.

In addition to presenting the achievements made by the oil companies operating in Angola and the national concessionaire ANPG, throughout the first three months of this year, the review meeting called “Outlook” continues until this Friday (26), the day set aside for analysis and oil and gas market perspectives.
