Africa-Press – Angola. The road connection between the municipality of Alto-Chicapa and the main municipality of Cacolo, over a length of 108 kilometres, will be improved in the coming months with earthworks, in order to improve the fluidity and speed of traffic.
Speaking to the press, after X-raying the economic sector of that locality, the governor of Lunda Sul, Daniel Neto, guaranteed that the project is fully prepared and the local Government and the Ministry of Public Works already have everything ready to be carried out in the next few days. the work to improve this section.
He said that this section constitutes an “Achilles heel” for the Government, being therefore where it should be concentrated in order to provide greater development to the Alto-Chicapa commune.
In addition to this section, he made it known that there are other roads that deserve special attention, such as Alto-Chicapa/Luma-Cassai, Cacolo/Cucumbi and Xassengue.
On the other hand, Daniel Neto pointed out as priorities of government action for the Alto-Chicapa commune the construction of a system for capturing, treating and distributing drinking water and boreholes for the inhabitants of the communes.
The official also promised to reinforce the commune with a solar energy system, installation of a mobile telephone antenna, improvement of access roads, through earthworks, and support for production, with the delivery of agricultural inputs.
As for the situation of the school with seven classrooms, whose works are 75% physically and 100% financially executed, the minister was concerned about the delay in completing the work, which the contractor is not honoring with the delivery deadlines initialed in the consignment acts.
The governor reassured the residents, adding that he will work with the institutions dedicated to completing the project later this year.
Regarding the medical center, which lacks an ambulance, Daniel Neto said that this is a situation that will be resolved urgently, as an ambulance from one of the units in the city of Saurimo will be delivered.
Meanwhile, chief António Cavula, on behalf of the population, presented concerns related to the extension of the radio and television signal, construction of bridges, residences for teachers and health technicians, police station, houses for regedores and sobetas, as well as as means of transport.
The problem of energy and water was not left out of the concerns raised by the residents, who asked for a solution to these problems that affect the area for many years.
During his eight-hour stay in that location, several projects were X-rayed, with emphasis on the water collection and treatment system, medical center and school with seven classrooms.
The Alto-Chicapa commune is 108 kilometers from the municipal seat (Cacolo), has a land area of 6,282 square kilometers and an altitude of 1,300 metres, with an estimated population of 3,243 inhabitants, spread over six villages, comprising two regedorias, and a total of 75 traditional authorities.
