Government Officials Assess Cooperation between Angola and Tunisia

Africa-Press – Angola. The deepening of bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic, economic, and commercial spheres between Angola and Tunisia was discussed this Monday during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti.

In a telephone conversation, they took the opportunity to discuss the relaunch of bilateral cooperation, particularly the establishment of the Joint Commission and the increase in exchanges of visits between delegations from both countries.

During the conversation, Ministers Téte António and Mohamed Ali Naft reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to strengthening existing ties of friendship and cooperation.

They emphasized the importance of boosting bilateral mechanisms and identifying new areas of partnership of mutual interest in the political, economic, commercial, and cultural spheres.

The head of Tunisian diplomacy told his Angolan counterpart that his country wants to help Angola in the areas of education, health, pharmaceutical industry, electricity, tourism, agriculture, as well as in the field of water resources and extractive industry.The two entities committed to moving forward with more concrete actions when they meet in New York on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, to be held on September 10th of this year at UN Headquarters.

The exchange of views between the two ministers also included issues of regional and international interest, with a focus on the need to promote dialogue and consultation between Angola and Tunisia in multilateral forums.

Very recently, Tunisia unilaterally decided to open its borders with Angola, allowing Angolan citizens to stay for up to ninety (90) days, subject to that country’s legal requirements.Relations between Angola and Tunisia are diplomatic and guided by bilateral cooperation in economic, political, and cultural areas.

The two countries share common goals in regional and international forums, seeking to promote peace, stability, and development on the African continent.

Both countries have been exploring possibilities for increasing bilateral trade and investment, especially in sectors such as energy, agriculture, and tourism.
