Africa-Press – Angola. The national secretary for cooperation, foreign relations, and resource mobilization of the Mozambican Youth Organization, Milvan Armando Muiuan, highlighted on Sunday (10), in Luanda, the importance of effectively integrating young people into diplomatic and international decision-making spaces.
Speaking on the sidelines of the second day of the Pan-African Youth Summit, the Mozambican leader said there has been clear and encouraging progress regarding the integration of young people into diplomacy.
“We are certain that we, as young people, will achieve greater diplomatic representation. It is ongoing work, but it is possible,” he stated.
Referring to his country, Mozambique, Milvan Armando Muiuan emphasized that the generational transition is underway and that the government is open to including young people in decision-making platforms.
Regarding the Angolan experience, Muiuan said she was surprised by the engagement demonstrated by the young Angolans present at the summit.
“I was very impressed by the young Angolans who truly want to take a leading role in Angola’s diplomatic and economic development. The country’s demographic base, with around 65% of the population being young, makes youth an essential player in policymaking”, she emphasized.
Despite the progress, Milvan Muiuan highlighted the promotion of patriotism as an area that Angola and other countries in the region should strengthen.
According to her, the continent’s current context, marked by external pressures and internal challenges, demands a more conscious, critical youth committed to national values.
In turn, for Esther Chaekela, from the Namibian delegation, the meeting is fruitful and provides an opportunity for the exchange of experiences.
Regarding the use of technology, Esther believes that awareness should be raised regarding how it is used, so as not to distort the African essence.
The Pan-African Youth Summit takes place from the 9th to the 12th of the current month in Luanda. It will culminate in the approval of the Luanda Declaration, which will be submitted to the African Union and its member states as a youth proposal for the continent’s major challenges.
