Africa-Press – Angola. The twenty-five players of the Misto do Huambo team, winner of the National Football Championship for amputees, were received, this Sunday, in the main hall of the provincial government’s Palace, by the deputy governor for infrastructure, Elmano Francisco.
The governor reiterated his support for the five-time champions of football for amputees to prolong the emotions and satisfaction of the people. According to the deputy governor, the Government of Huambo will continue to provide support to bridge the differences in funds between athletes with disabilities and Olympic athletes. “This is the articulation and the path that we have made with the Angolan Paralympic Committee, so that it can give the opportunity to continue on this path of equity and convergence, in order to do as it has to be”, he said.
Elmano Francisco also said that the triumph obtained by the Misto do Huambo values the effort made by different structures of the Government with a view to the reintegration of citizens with disabilities.
“Allow me, on behalf of the provincial government, to thank you for your fifth achievement in the National Football Championship for amputees, which contributes to the increase in the number of participants in adapted sport”, he said.
Mixed, once again national champion, is almost entirely made up of young people who have lost their members, thus encouraging others who are anonymous. “Cheers and congratulations to the valiant members of the Misto who historically fought in Bié, a victorious path that the results and statistics unequivocally confirm”, said the official.
The person in charge of adapted sports in Huambo, Jaime Chilala, said at the time that it is important to have more material conditions so that athletes, coaches and federations can better develop their work. “Paralympic sport at the provincial level has a dynamic of great development. Therefore, we ask for support and attention from the government”, he said.
The manager added that in addition to the team, Huambo received other distinctions, such as best referee, attributed to Agostinho Martins, best scorer, Hélder Gomes, and best goalkeeper, Laurindo Lucamba.
The National Football Championship for amputees was held in the city of Cuito, province of Bié, from the 4th to the 10th of the current month.
