Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, defended, this Thursday, in Luena, the institutionalization of a model of social coexistence, which aims to deepen intergenerational dialogue for the consolidation of moral, civic values ​​and peace in the country.

Speaking at the provincial event of the National Day of the Elderly, which is celebrated this Thursday, the government official said that the appreciation of this social segment will contribute positively to the transmission of experience and knowledge, serving as a guiding compass for the new generation.

To achieve this, he said, it is necessary to include this fringe in different social actions to facilitate interaction with the younger generations.

On the occasion, he recalled that the Angolan government has drawn up policies to support and protect vulnerable groups, with special attention to the elderly.

For her part, the director of the Home for the Elderly “Rainha Nhakatolo Tchissengo”, Benedita Pinto Luís, asked Angolan families to pay more attention to the elderly, repudiating actions that discriminate against this social group.

In the province of Moxico, the provincial office of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality controls three homes for the elderly, which house 149 elderly people.

National Elderly Persons Day has been celebrated since January 2005, to promote this social group.
