Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, Sunday, appealed to the faithful of different religious denominations to continue to pray in favor of preserving peace in the country.

The official, who was speaking at the closing service of the 37th session of the Annual Conference of the West of Angola, of the Methodist Church of Angola, held from the 12th to the 16th of this month, in the city of Uíge, said that the construction of a new country must rely on church participation.

In turn, the secretary general of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA), Deolinda Dorcas Teca, who presided over the service, condemned the practice of vandalizing school infrastructure and the diversion of material from hospital units.

He added that this situation harms the well-being of many children.

On the other hand, the nun called for unity within families, as well as the rescue of moral and civic values, in order to promote the improvement of public services.

The 37th session of the Annual Conference of the West of Angola of the Methodist Church of Angola, which took place under the motto “Methodists, do good at all times”, brought together thousands of faithful of the religious denomination.

During the event, the bishop of the United Methodist Church, Gaspar João Domingos, consecrated 79 deacons and 16 elders.

The 37th Annual Conference addressed the report on administration and finance, evangelization and its importance in the current context.

The event was attended by faithful from the provinces of Uíge, Luanda, Bengo, Cuanzas Norte and Sul, Cabinda, Zaire, Huíla, Benguela, Huambo, Cunene and Namibe.
