Africa-Press – Angola. The national senior women’s handball team qualified for the title phase of the World Championship of the sport, by drawing, this Monday, with the similar team from Iceland (26-26) for the third and final round of the group D.

At half-time, the African champions were winning by one goal (15-14).

Angola came in third place with one point.

In the tiebreaker system between the two teams, Angola scored 79 goals and conceded 80 (-1), while Iceland scored 72 goals and conceded 88 (-16).

The Angolans recorded defeats against France (29-30) and Slovenia, 24-30.

For the title phase, the top three teams from each group advance.

The Angolan “seven” moves into the group of the best 24 teams and improves one place compared to the previous edition in 2021 in Spain. In the second phase that starts Wednesday, Angola will face Norway, Austria and South Korea.

The competition takes place in Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
