Head of State mourns death of former Angolan minister Assunção dos Anjos

Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State, João Lourenço mourned the death of the former Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs, Assunção dos Anjos, that occured Monday of an illness at the age of 76, in Madrid, Spain.

In a condolence message, President João Lourenço expressed his deepest consternation on learning of the death of the ambassador Assunção Afonso de Sousa dos Anjos.

João Lourenço highlights that the deceased as a cadre of the Central Administration, had important positions in Angola and abroad “always with recognized zeal, sense of duty and notable competence”.

In the message, President João Lourenço praises Assunção dos Anjos ́ qualities as “an easygoing man and of broad culture, who has always distinguished himself by the zealous way in which he carried out the responsibilities entrusted to him”.

In the document, on Tuesday, the Angolan statesman highlighted the valuable contribution that Assunção dos Anjos provided to Angolan diplomacy.

João Lourenço ́s message states that taking into account his great work experience and continued devotion to Angola and the cause of his people, the late diplomat recently worked as Advisor to the President of the Republic.

President João Lourenço addresses to the bereaved family the deepest feeling of regret and solidarity in this moment of mourning and grief.

“On behalf of the Angolan Government, on behalf of my family and on my own behalf,” the message reads”, says the message.
