Africa-Press – Angola. The Huambo team won, on Saturday, in Luanda, the eighth edition of the National Taekwando Tournament, called “Ambassador Cup of the Republic of South Korea”, with two gold medals and an equal number of bronze.
Disputed in the Cidadela Pavilion, in the system of all against all, the representative of Huambo surpassed the one of Moxico, in second place, with one gold and two silver.
The host Luanda, occupied the third position, with a gold medal and two bronze, in a competition that also involved athletes from Lunda-Sul, Huíla and Cuanza-Sul.
Started in 2013, the Republic of Korea Cup is an annual event under the aegis of the Angolan Taekwando Federation, sponsored by the South Korean Embassy.
At the end of the competition, the Secretary of State for Sports, Carlos Almeida, recognized the engagement and commitment of the diplomatic representation in promoting the sport.
The gesture by South Korea, according to the official, who was speaking on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, reinforces the ties of friendship between the two countries, through sport.
