Africa-Press – Angola. The city of Lubango, capital of the province of Huíla, hosts, from the 25th to the 29th of this month, the meeting of employment and labor ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Social Partners.

According to a press release from the organization this Wednesday, in Lubango, the meeting will review several issues relating to employment and work, as well as their importance for the region.

The event takes place in the conference room of the Hotel Serra da Chela, in the Senhora do Monte Tourist and Sports Complex, which hosts the official opening ceremony and meetings, with the preparation of logistical, working conditions, interpretation equipment, medical room and Internet services, says the note distributed by the Provincial Government of Huíla.

In addition to ministers of labor from member states and their social partners, national delegations, employees from the secretariat of the regional organization, observers from invited international organizations and officials from the Republic of Angola will take part in the event.

Programs and meetings are also scheduled between members who have private programs or intend to host any reserved meetings during the meeting, reads the note

The Southern African Development Community is a regional bloc that aims to create a common market, in the medium term, following the basic model of the European Union and some aspects of Mercosur. It also has the purpose of promoting efforts to establish peace and security in the region.

SADC brings together 16 countries, namely South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, eSwatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, whose headquarters are in Gaborone (Botswana).

Angola currently assumes the rotating presidency of the organization for the period 2023-2024.
