Huíla hosts patriotic awareness-raising and civic education days

Africa-Press – Angola. The opening act of the Patriotic Awareness Days and Electoral Civic Education, which will culminate in civic clarification actions for the electorate of the 14 municipalities with the aim of mobilizing, educating and informing citizens about the different phases of the electoral process and their importance, took place yesterday, in the city of Lubango, and covers the remaining 13 municipalities in Huíla.

The provincial secretary of MOVANGOLA in Huíla, Rafael César Cambinda, informed that special attention will be paid to voters in rural areas, especially young people who are going to vote for the first time to participate in the biggest party of democracy.

Rafael César Cambinda indicated that the same attention will be paid to women who, in all elections, always represent the largest fringe of the electorate, stressing that it is through civic education that citizens’ social awareness is raised, so that they participate actively and responsible in the political life of the province and the country.

A well-conducted civic education, he acknowledged, makes it possible to prevent potential conflicts that arise in electoral processes, reduce abstention and at the same time promote conscious and responsible voting.

He stated that the electoral civic education process is one of the bastions for elections to be free, fair and transparent, reaffirming that responsibility and mission make the elections take place in a climate of unity and harmony, so that “it belongs to everyone and not , simply, of the National Electoral Commission”.

“We must all pay attention to voters in rural areas, to young people, especially those who are going to vote for the first time, to encourage them to participate in the electoral process”, he reiterated, considering it essential to count on everyone’s experience: “Because only together and united we will be able to overcome the country’s social, economic and other problems”.

The provincial secretary of MOVANGOLA appealed to civil society organizations, churches, traditional authorities, companies, political parties and political coalitions and voters, in general, that the time is for unity, cordiality and should be guided by a behavior of civics and peace.
