Africa-Press – Angola. The municipality of Icolo e Bengo, Luanda province won, this Friday, a Migration and Foreigners Services (SME) post, infrastructure inaugurated by the Minister of the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho, in the centrality of Zango eight thousand.

With this post, the SME complies with the precepts of proximity service to the citizen, reducing the waiting time, distance, benefiting the human capital that, from now on, works close to their homes.

The establishment has 26 employees, equipped with the best possible technology, and, in addition to the scheduling service, accurate consultations, it will serve between 80 and 100 people a day.

Likewise, it will issue passports, all types of visas for foreigners, such as renewals for work, tourism and permanent visas, as well as requesting service passports, which was only done at the headquarters.

According to the spokesman for the SME, Simão Milagre, other posts will soon be inaugurated in the province of Luanda, in the municipalities of Belas and Cacuaco, as well as in other provinces.

“A great controversy that has arisen in recent times was the waiting time for passports. This has now been surpassed, as we have enough consumables in the country”, he said, despite acknowledging that there is still some delay, due to the excess of pending processes.

He clarified that emergencies, scholarship holders and patients have been attended to as quickly as possible, with some of them obtaining the document in less than 15 days.

According to the Minister of the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho, the implementation of this project aims to prevent citizens from moving to other parts of the city to deal with issuing passports and other migration acts.

“We intend that the National Police, the Criminal Investigation Service and the Civil Protection and Fire Brigade be in this centrality to attend to the concerns of citizens in matters of public security”, he predicted.

The official made it known that this act represents the concern of the Angolan Executive in bringing essential public services to the citizens.

In turn, the municipal administrator of Icolo e Bengo, Nelson Funete, considered the action of great value, in that it makes the lives of residents more comfortable.

He revealed that the installation of this post is a response to the request of the residents of Zango Eight Thousand made in December 2022, during a meeting with the municipal administration.

Residents praise the initiative

Some inhabitants of the Zango eight thousand centrality, expressed their happiness at the opening of the SME post in their area, highlighting various advantages, including cost savings and ease of acquiring a passport.

For resident António Ramos, whose passport has expired, he sees the possibility of renewing it without stress, and with less financial resources.

“Just thinking about the delay at headquarters and the difficulties with transport, I spent all that time without renewing my document”, he said.

In turn, Manuel Gabriel António valued the installation of this post, as it makes life easier for residents who no longer travel long distances.

However, the user appeals to those entitled to provide other services such as bank facilities, identification services, General Tax Administration, among others.

Another resident, João Carvalho Bunga praises the initiative for facilitating the citizens, especially those from Icolo e Bengo e Viana and hopes that other services will be attracted to be implanted in this centrality.

“We hope for better days because we believe that soon we will also have a (SIAC) Integrated Citizen Assistance Service and with it at least one (TPA) Automatic Payment Terminal, to make our lives easier”, he wished.

The inauguration of this post was preceded by the reopening of the service post in Vila Clotilde, in the municipality of Ingombota, making a total of 12 in the province of Luanda.
