IGAE in Bié records 134 infractions in 2023

Africa-Press – Angola. The General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) in the province of Bié registered 134 various infractions in public institutions, during the year 2023, five of them forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

Compared to 2022, there was an increase of 18 infractions.

The data was presented this Thursday, by the delegate of the General Inspection of State Administration (IGAE) in Bié, Adilson João, when speaking to the press, within the scope of the 32 years of existence of this institution, marked on Wednesday, the 17th..

The irregularities, said the delegate, highlighted anomalies in the processing of salaries, in the public contracting process, non-compliance with the rules for transferring portfolios, nepotism, improper receipt of benefits, among others.

As a result, he stressed, 21 public servants were arrested in flagrante delicto, for unseemly practices, particularly the undue receipt of benefits.

These include traffic regulatory agents, court officials, school managers, nurses and others.

Three other ordinary citizens were also arrested for attempting to bribe public administration officials.

However, in identifying crimes, some public agents were allowed to recover 477 thousand kwanzas, already returned to citizens.

Still in 2023, this State body recovered two residences that were under the supervision of public managers from the local administration, in the municipality of Catabola, 52 kilometers east of Cuito, capital of the province

40 different vehicles were also recovered, acquired illegally by former managers and public servants, essentially in the education and health sectors, which are currently contributing to the security of institutions.

During last year, IGAE received 488 complaints, through Call Center 119, in writing, and in news published in the media and social networks.

With a view to discouraging harmful acts in public institutions, this year, IGAE’s challenges are to focus on training public managers and raising awareness among the population, to reinforce the culture of reporting.

IGAE set up shop in Bié in July 2021.

Created on January 17, 1992, IGAE is an auxiliary body of the President of the Republic, with the mission of carrying out internal control of public administration, through inspection, inspection, audit, supervision, control, inquiry and investigations of all bodies, organizations and services of the direct and indirect administration of the State, as well as autonomous administrations.
